When I committed to W&M in the fall of my senior year, I wasn’t coming to enjoy a Power 5-esque athletic department. Instead, I committed to join a Tribe that has a rich history of success based on hard work and grit, not boasting the best facilities or logo. I thrived off being the underdog that was thought of as an excellent academic school only.
This team accepts and embodies that underdog mentality which has driven our success. Throughout my athletic career, I have been injured multiple times, and without the mentality of this Tribe, my family, I wouldn’t have kept going. Physical therapy and endless cross training became easier because I had my family supporting me.
A Tribe is a community of customs and traditions, and cutting 7 teams, especially of this success, is eliminating that community and the traditions that come with it.
